Welcome to Re:Peat. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our Chrome extension service. By installing and using Re:Peat, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Service Description

1.1 What We Provide

Re:Peat is a Chrome extension that provides:

• Spaced Repetition Learning: Scientific algorithm-based flashcard review system designed to maximize knowledge retention
• New Tab Integration: Automated quiz delivery through your browser's new tab functionality
• Study Management: Tools for organizing, creating, and managing flashcard decks
• Cloud-Based Account System: Automatic user registration and secure cloud storage of your study materials
• Cross-Device Synchronization: Seamless access to your data across multiple devices and browsers

1.2 Account Registration

Upon first installation, Re:Peat automatically creates a user account with a unique identifier. This account:

• Stores all your study materials in our secure cloud infrastructure
• Enables synchronization across devices
• Manages subscription status and premium features
• Persists even if you uninstall and reinstall the extension

1.3 Service Availability

We strive to maintain service availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Scheduled maintenance and updates may temporarily affect service availability.

2. User Responsibilities

2.1 Acceptable Use

You agree to use Re:Peat only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You shall NOT:

• Use the extension to create, store, or share content that harms, defames, or inconveniences other individuals
• Attempt to reverse engineer, modify, or create derivative works of the extension
• Use the service to violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Interfere with or disrupt the service or servers connected to the service

You are responsible for:

3. Payment Terms and Billing

3.1 Subscription Plans

Re:Peat offers both free and premium subscription tiers. Premium subscriptions are billed monthly at $5.00 USD per month.

3.2 Payment Processing

All payments are processed through Stripe, a third-party payment processor. By subscribing to premium features, you agree to Stripe's terms of service and privacy policy. We do not store your payment information directly and Stripe's terms of service can be found here: https://stripe.com/legal/ssa.

3.3 Billing and Renewals

• Subscriptions automatically renew monthly unless cancelled
• You will be charged the subscription fee on the same date each month
• Price changes will be communicated at least 30 days in advance
• Failed payments may result in service interruption

3.4 Refund Policy

Refunds are handled according to Stripe's standard refund policies. Generally:

• Refunds are typically not provided for partial month usage
• Refunds may be considered for technical issues that prevent service use
• All refund requests must be submitted within 10 days of the charge

4. Account Lifecycle and Data Management

4.1 User-Initiated Cancellation

You may cancel your premium subscription at any time for any reason through:

• The cancellation feature within the extension
• Contacting our support team directly

4.2 Effects of Cancellation

4.3 Automatic Account Cleanup

To maintain system efficiency and data quality, accounts inactive beyond the following periods will be permanently deleted:

• Free Users: 180 days of inactivity
• Premium Users: 365 days of inactivity (with email warnings at 330 and 350 days)
• Deleted accounts cannot be recovered
• Regular extension use prevents account deletion

4.4 Service-Initiated Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms, including but not limited to premium access sharing or abusive behavior.

5. Data Persistence and Migration

5.1 Cloud Storage Benefits

Your data is stored in our secure cloud infrastructure, which provides:

• Persistence across device changes and browser reinstallations
• Automatic synchronization between devices
• Protection against local data loss
• Seamless migration from legacy Chrome sync storage

5.2 Data Migration

Users with existing Chrome sync data will have their information automatically migrated to our cloud system upon first use of the updated extension, ensuring no loss of study materials.

6. Communication and Notifications

6.1 Email Communications

We may send emails for:

• Premium subscription confirmations
• Account inactivity warnings
• Important service updates
• Security notifications

7. Limitation of Liability

7.1 Content Responsibility

You acknowledge that:

• You are solely responsible for all content you create and store using Re:Peat
• We are not liable for any loss, corruption, or inaccessibility of your study materials
• Regular use of the extension helps prevent data loss due to inactivity policies

7.2 Third-Party Services

We are not responsible for:

• Issues arising from Stripe payment processing due to insufficient funds or payment method errors
• Third-party service outages or data breaches
• Compatibility issues with other browser extensions
• Email delivery failures due to spam filters or provider issues

7.3 Limitation of Damages

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Re:Peat shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses.

8. Intellectual Property

The Re:Peat extension and all related materials are owned by us and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You retain ownership of the content you create using our service.

9. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated through:

• Extension notifications
• Email notifications to premium subscribers
• Updated effective date on this page

Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration.
